Pastor Gary & Lise Nawrocki
Pastor Gary and Lise have just arrived in Rocky Mountain House after eighteen years of ministry in Nanaimo, BC. Gary and Lise are proud parents of two grown children and have recently entered the ranks of grandparents. Both Gary and Lise are used to “real” Canadian winters as Lise grew up in the Winnipeg area and Gary in the Lacombe area.
Gary received Christ as his personal Saviour at the age of eight, and knew he had a call to be a pastor before he graduated from high school. This led him to Canadian Nazarene College in Winnipeg, followed by two years at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City. After twenty-five years of ministry, Gary returned to NTS to obtain his Doctor of Ministry degree.
Lise accepted Christ at the age of eighteen, and in a search of Biblical grounding for her new-found faith, she enrolled at CNC. There she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree through U of M. Lise grew up in a French Catholic home, and when she left home after high school, it was her room mate that shared the good news that she could have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
It was at CNC that Gary and Lise connected, and they were married in June of 1985. The next year they took their first pastoral assignment in Claresholm, Alberta. After six years of ministry there, God moved them to Kelowna, BC where they were blessed to pastor for twelve years. When Gary and Lise arrived in Nanaimo the church met in a funeral home! Thankfully God provided a much better worship space when an Anglican Church building was purchased and used for the ministries of the church. God blessed the ministry in Nanaimo, but after eighteen years He called them to a new ministry in Rocky Mountain House.
Lise has worked at an addictions treatment center coffee shop, a pharmaceutical store and a Christian Book Store. These days she wants time to meet her new neighbours and be a grandma. Hospitality is one of her gifts so the door is always open for visits and meals.
Gary and Lise enjoy hiking and exploring new places. Vancouver Island was rich in places to explore, and no doubt Rocky Mountain House and area will provide many more great hikes. Gary has hiked the West Coast Trail five times, twice with his children, and when the family was much younger, they all, including Lise, hiked the Chilkoot Trail together.
Gary and Lise look forward to becoming a part of the Rocky Mountain House community, praying that God would bring His grace to many people as they interact together. Our greatest desire is that all might know Christ and find the wonderful life He offers to those who follow Him.
